Volunteer Story – Kei

Kei, 24 is a registered teacher and volunteered in the Homework Club November 2021 – March 2022, she then joined our staff team at NCA as a study support worker in Homework Club!

“I am new to Manchester and I was looking for work so volunteering at the Homework Club meant I was doing something worthwhile each week. I like the opportunity to sit and take time with one student at a time, to give them a chance to tell me what they think about the work and build a relationship. In a school there is less time to do that! I really enjoy establishing a calm atmosphere and bringing on creative writing as a way of producing literacy and writing.”
